Worried Wednesday - Sick Pug Edition

The momma here. I've taken over the blog today as Lilo is sick. I am, to say the least, worried. The last time she ate and kept food down was dinner Monday night. I took her to the vet last night and they gave us an antibiotic and said it looked like the onset of a respritory infection. My fear, of course, was that she had eaten something again. We are coming up on the one year anniversary of her great rock eating escapde!! I came home from work at noon today and for a little while thought we might be on an up swing, but not so much. I got half a Benadryl, her morning antibiotic (the daddy gave it to her this morning and she waited until we left to spit it back out) and some peanut butter into her today. My joy at those feats was short lived. She is once again sluggish and sickly. I want to believe that the vet is right and it's just a respritory infection that the antibiotics will treat, but it's hard. When she inhales, I can see her whole body shake. When I let her out to potty, she goes and hides under a pile of brush like its her den or something. I don't know what to do or what to think. Right now, we are just watching her.

The hiding in the brush started this morning when I didn't let her in right away after she peed.

I hate to ask any more from all of you than I already have, but if you would just keep Lilo in your thoughts I would really appreciate it. I will keep you updated if anything changes.

Until next time . . . .

XOXOXOXOXO

OMD! Poor little Lilo! I know you are just sick to your stomach worrying about your baby. The hiding under the brush doesn't look good, so maybe you should take her to a different doctor.

I am keeping my paws crossed and praying that Lilo is okay.

We think that second opinions are always nice to have (we have had them done a few times and think its important if things dpon't getr better), however they maybe more expensive. We will be praying for little Lilo. Has she had an xray taken? Does she get enough fluids? We are sending good thoughts to you and her.

Poor Lilo! There's nothing worse then when you're baby is sick and they can't tell what's wrong.

We agree with Stubby 100%. Hiding under the bush doesn't seem like something we'd do, but all puggies are different. Bottom line, if you're not comfortable with Lilo's condition, even after seeing the vet then take her to another vet. No one knows her better than you and if you think it might be more than an infection, then insist the vet explore other possibilities.

Keep us posted as we'll be worried about Lilo and anxiously waiting to hear how she's doing!

Please, don't ever be afraid to ask for as much prayers as your Lilo needs till she is feeling better. Prayers got me and my puggy beloved through so many serious ills.

I am so sorry to hear of your Lilo not feeling well. It sounds like they are on top of things and caught it earlier. Respitory problems are the worst, I hate them.

Try a bit of chicken and rice for her to eat...my vet always recommended that when mine had issues. It is easy for them to keep down.

Will keep your sweet Lilo in my well puggy thoughts and prayers.

Poor Lilo! We're sorry to hear that she's feeling yucky, but hopefully it's nothing.

Did your vet mention anything about Canine Flu? Salinger got the shot a few weeks ago, but I'm not sure how much confidence I have in those things.
Here's a link from the CDC

Hope our favorite little Hooters girl is better soon!!! Give her kisses from us.

Lilo,

Momma and I were thinking about you all night! I hope it's nothing serious. A few times when I have been sickie, I have hidden because I don't want to be bothered. Maybe that's what you're doing.

Please update us today, ok?? We'll be waiting by the computer...

Oh I am sending you all hugs and good thoughts Lilo to get well. It's so hard to see them sick. If you are not satisfied with the info from your vet, ask for an x-ray to see if that will determine more of what's going on. Or even go to another vet for a second opinion...especially if she doesn't respond soon to the medicine. Our regular vet was out of town when Sugar was so sick and the fill-in vet was not giving us good answers (we felt) so we took her to another vet and got better results and more test run.

Lilio, we are sorry you are feeling yucky. We hope that it is nothing more than a respiratory infection and that the meds start working soon. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh, no! Poor Lilo! Nothing scares our humans like when we get the sickies and they don't know what's wrong with us... Maybe you should go set the vet again, sounds like maybe some further investigation might be in order! Could be just the sickies, but if there is anything more they can do to get you better fast, it would make your mommy feel better too!

Oh, Lilo, you will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the medicine helps you feel better and that it's not anything more serious! *hugs*

Aww poor Lilo! Sending lots of good thoughts to you guys.

Indy tends to burrow when she is very ill. One of her vaccines had a bad reaction and she spent 2 days sleeping in her carrier (which she hates and never goes in). It might be more comforting for her to be in an enclosed space.

If you can, maybe call another vet and ask them over the phone? Tell them what your vet said and see what they say.
